Electronic Arts Motive hosted a livestream on August 31st, 2021, showing prototype footage of the Dead Space remake. After an announcement trailer earlier this month, fans weren’t expecting to see much until later in the year. Hosted by senior producer Philippe Ducharme and creative director Roman Campos-Oriola, the stream showed an early look at the remake. Over the course of the livestream, the team shed light on how they’d approach a remake of the beloved franchise. Dead Space is currently slated to release on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There is no word yet about a release date, so we can assume that the game is still pretty far-out.
The upcoming Dead Space entry is confirmed to be a total remake of the first game. In the livestream, the developers noted that they even accessed a number of assets from the original game. You can check out the livestream here!
Fans have been hoping for the franchise to return, even after EA shut down it’s original studio, Visceral Games. Motive seems to be taking this remake seriously, so Dead Space fans might be in luck. Campos-Oriola stated “One thing that’s important for us…it’s not about one thing, It’s really about improving on a lot of different elements to create that original but still new experience”. The game will be running on DICE’s Frostbite engine, which allows the game to deliver much more than the original could.
